Boards and Commissions
The City Council consists of a Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, and four Councilmembers. The Mayor and Councilmembers are elected to two-year terms.
There is also a volunteer:
- Planning and Zoning Commission
- Parks and Recreation Board
- Comprehensive Plan Advisory Workgroup
- Ordinance Review Committee
- Tree Board
- Platinum Roads Panel
- Hotel Occupancy Tax Committee (HOT)
The Planning and Zoning Commission consists of five Commissioners and two alternate Commissioners who advise the Mayor and City Council on zoning and zoning changes, as well as approval of any planning related item(s).
The Parks and Rec Board consists of five board members who advise the Mayor and City Council on matters pertaining to city parks and recreation areas.
The Ordinance Review Committee first met on May 25, 2022 and will be working on the amending, creating, editing, and rescinding city ordinances. All ordinance change recommendations are subject to the approval of the City Council.
The Tree Board is responsible for the protection and promotion of trees in our city and the extraterritorial jurisdiction, including our heritage and street trees.
The Platinum Roads Panel is researching the quality of our city streets along with many other issues and making recommendations to the City Council on these topics.
The Hotel Occupancy Tax Committee will advise the City Council on initiating and administration of the proposed Hotel Occupancy Tax, including aspects of collecting and spending the funds received. The committee will meet monthly or as needed to provide timely and thorough recommendations to the Council.
